There are a lot of reasons but mainly, it is because the family is getting so much bigger and the cabin isn't. It makes me sad but I can see the logic. It has been in our family for 38 years and the volume of memories is gigantic. I think of a sleeping cabin full of giggling girls, flying angel food cakes, midnight skinny-dipping, bowls of pistacio pudding, stitches, broken arms, and appendicitis. I think of stories of Mickey, Sticky, Icky, and Stuffy. Late night Pinochle, huckleberries, and jelly bellies. I think of cross country skiing, and waterskiing. I think of honeymoons and birthday parties. It is time to make new memories somewhere else. My dad say's it's on to bigger and better things. Farewell dear cabin, you will be missed.</div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-51507486644464630152009-08-21T19:54:00.003-06:002009-08-21T20:16:41.355-06:00McCall Revisited<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-yDRmokVCNC1rlpCFL8sAo_pcLE-tg36NGP0Nkd3ncZewp1aEskWnMWFJyQwgR8xu1xSLoTMxjlVRZioQl6fiU-Er1X1ePBqZPKpL2EkkZsL_Ticf_UuaRX8NZHTGrkvPqdOsQkhuZXCz/s1600-h/DSCN4892.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372605558166058930" style="DISPLAY: block; All the cousins played tag and had a great time!</div></div><br /></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-72769911700855007642009-08-21T19:35:00.001-06:002009-08-21T19:43:33.310-06:00Wood Hucking<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih7NXS04Pl81vRRA5F3puEzC3K0fP0icAvcVxwDdvqp6v9JRQIWfbBjSYdni39iS9DzxIGm_bXRa4JRbd7yhfVRQhqC8536SbCIMTFYhVUNtd6QShHDFnMw6O-EQahnloPa789SJgygK3a/s1600-h/DSCN4810.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372596827264842674" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih7NXS04Pl81vRRA5F3puEzC3K0fP0icAvcVxwDdvqp6v9JRQIWfbBjSYdni39iS9DzxIGm_bXRa4JRbd7yhfVRQhqC8536SbCIMTFYhVUNtd6QShHDFnMw6O-EQahnloPa789SJgygK3a/s320/DSCN4810.JPG" border="0" /></a> Jon picking slivers<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K6DL72Q-AXnfuhNDxHJ_Nsu0YtY7Oal-sHMA2znCbJb8w5ztMoo13AH8xUUYc5nwtKhRVVah3Lg03jVR4COdAkkEODV5OtgEzJyUCfbQBadskonswGafo8cuujV1eTcmzIa8hhizQccb/s1600-h/DSCN4796.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372596820093204306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K6DL72Q-AXnfuhNDxHJ_Nsu0YtY7Oal-sHMA2znCbJb8w5ztMoo13AH8xUUYc5nwtKhRVVah3Lg03jVR4COdAkkEODV5OtgEzJyUCfbQBadskonswGafo8cuujV1eTcmzIa8hhizQccb/s320/DSCN4796.JPG" border="0" /></a>Christopher<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWZKgYk9xAQy4tKVZw2AVTcoLZk2eWV12EqLAmX44umopL4-9_Gi-WJERxjnxUeHisLzV0X7BAtdpnUclEEdIRtNL9hLf2exoSDihY9WLe_N8dDlFOd3uCcSrcetOg6x5JzN9nMjqvJ9sE/s1600-h/DSCN4800.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372596808093952274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWZKgYk9xAQy4tKVZw2AVTcoLZk2eWV12EqLAmX44umopL4-9_Gi-WJERxjnxUeHisLzV0X7BAtdpnUclEEdIRtNL9hLf2exoSDihY9WLe_N8dDlFOd3uCcSrcetOg6x5JzN9nMjqvJ9sE/s320/DSCN4800.JPG" border="0" /></a> Jacob and Rachel<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJjnE4K6mmFA8oekLikYdUmNnFnHm83gp4ab6T2Wm1ABOf5FakR93VmAB-OAgOsQyfzAwyE8GA2PjqBSJtd0TR6fgZG80TKLyjRNZJng43jyPElPToFjfb6ipj3eBL8XJzxs2pPKqy2Ij/s1600-h/DSCN4794.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372596796643948338" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJjnE4K6mmFA8oekLikYdUmNnFnHm83gp4ab6T2Wm1ABOf5FakR93VmAB-OAgOsQyfzAwyE8GA2PjqBSJtd0TR6fgZG80TKLyjRNZJng43jyPElPToFjfb6ipj3eBL8XJzxs2pPKqy2Ij/s320/DSCN4794.JPG" border="0" /></a>Dad, Jon, Brian<br /><br /><div align="center">While in McCall, we went wood hucking to fill my dad's wood pile. Well after a series of unfortunate events, Ashli and Philip finally got here. We were so happy to have them and their girls. Mom hosted a corn roast. This is a family tradition from way back when I was little. You build a great fire then you put fresh unshucked corn in the pit and roast slowly. We just ate corn, watermelon, and fresh cucumbers. We finished off with homemade icecream and brownies for desert. Tell me, does it get any better than that?</div></div></div></div><br /></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-15249981310338593442009-07-25T17:22:00.005-06:002009-07-25T17:36:26.308-06:00Bridge Jumpers.<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN2Wawp5_2NGHeaMTOiJTp_cKqnEAh4f5_tNSJfswTrgs6MGdFBtVtcfDzgS0L3QSpb8tQAgCR-GWHW_xE4oiLIexN52qyBtXzTCRJpFCw_DITMo77YqEy2ckppA7nQszy1QGIXAM5ibbp/s1600-h/DSCN2043.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362545695486631266" style="DISPLAY: block; It was over 15 high and they plunged into a cool green river. Most of the kids were pretty scared, but not Josh. He just climbed over the railing and jumped!!! Well, then it became a matter of pride. Blake was next then Ren and Jacob. Josh jumped again and stayed in so he could help Emily. And in she went. I have to say it was scary to watch my 10 year old jumping off a bridge Shelby worried and worried and finally went in. </div></div></div></div></div><br /></div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-69161646237319272782009-07-25T17:10:00.003-06:002009-07-25T17:21:38.820-06:00Tie Creek<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjUFeWnYUjr8CV0if_dUnW70npch9lt6UnVaNLaJK7eORENNlV8yg97RamUdxrgsXR7vp1cYtcHDHpPnhVAUvzlsjJc70rnCway1ueEaybcm-3Oumf1xEkUrHJUvxE0EMPrP0LLH6PXxpa/s1600-h/DSCN2028.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362541488902650834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjUFeWnYUjr8CV0if_dUnW70npch9lt6UnVaNLaJK7eORENNlV8yg97RamUdxrgsXR7vp1cYtcHDHpPnhVAUvzlsjJc70rnCway1ueEaybcm-3Oumf1xEkUrHJUvxE0EMPrP0LLH6PXxpa/s320/DSCN2028.JPG" border="0" /></a> Josh, Ren, Jacob, Abby, Grandma, Shelby<br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXB_LaeIRfuEac3JzBiOrPKPWQk0xDlXxoR9I6A0YwU-nG1kLkzFe4kwf5l1p4ihv8QYpizV01-cLCQOSLkSaX84qXj41jVnSGZFUKk2_mMuSJ5fgkhyZlh29DefQv7H7E62xJJe8XJMyJ/s1600-h/DSCN2027.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362541481104433458" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXB_LaeIRfuEac3JzBiOrPKPWQk0xDlXxoR9I6A0YwU-nG1kLkzFe4kwf5l1p4ihv8QYpizV01-cLCQOSLkSaX84qXj41jVnSGZFUKk2_mMuSJ5fgkhyZlh29DefQv7H7E62xJJe8XJMyJ/s320/DSCN2027.JPG" border="0" /></a> Emily, Shelby, Abby<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUx1kXuVRlIB7VSh_erQtyPIjv4kP0zUCQjH3IPi2tFhj8bPdcFEPFHv7Dz5FchCyFHJXo6FEIgl-_aivsPJyzHwAHD-psQVA76uXgILA8JawmEATKR3ZPXmixsQzpmchhrXTbr0vivm59/s1600-h/DSCN2026.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362541472341543394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUx1kXuVRlIB7VSh_erQtyPIjv4kP0zUCQjH3IPi2tFhj8bPdcFEPFHv7Dz5FchCyFHJXo6FEIgl-_aivsPJyzHwAHD-psQVA76uXgILA8JawmEATKR3ZPXmixsQzpmchhrXTbr0vivm59/s320/DSCN2026.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>It was over 100 degrees for the last few days, but we didn't care because we were at Tie Creek Campground. Pine trees and clear cool water and great company. Stefani and her two little boys went with us. This time we went to Pearl Lake. It is just a tiny lake and the hike is just under 2 miles. It is perfect for short legs aka the three and under crowd. The mosquitos were brutal but is was so incredibly beautiful. Green meadows thick with wildflowers, meandering creeks, and old burnt trees among fresh green pines. The cousins caught frogs by the dozens and floated them down a little stream. Miles fell in the lake while Rachel was fishing, and Shelby kissed a frog hoping for a prince.</div></div></div><br /></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-50120343362498129532009-07-15T20:04:00.003-06:002009-07-15T20:15:23.687-06:00McCall<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtn2IlMUDTg16v2LR-04I3Onj63Zif0gWaNo_NWEVCFBfyqC31ajzO3NUdVZypewShuYBRPeFwuUuau2EnE0GmPDqzH2TwOS271wF5bCST8xmAecxlt-JUgd9eS-R12I2-L1TXSYxvGsML/s1600-h/DSCN2017.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358874492205243250" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtn2IlMUDTg16v2LR-04I3Onj63Zif0gWaNo_NWEVCFBfyqC31ajzO3NUdVZypewShuYBRPeFwuUuau2EnE0GmPDqzH2TwOS271wF5bCST8xmAecxlt-JUgd9eS-R12I2-L1TXSYxvGsML/s200/DSCN2017.JPG" border="0" /></a> Kyle and Phoebe<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL8EU3w5uuA1EZ5f9KvTVLfMKW3ViKhNjro0lYiO0yubXNsSCp5801MyXn94tYeEhDp7WogpM8iq-Ba7rH-awjPCXRHLugI3h9cZzxEnCcYbH76Gy9aFC0a_sTP21uK_Y6dDNa8QYKHnbz/s1600-h/DSCN1967.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358874483480308914" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL8EU3w5uuA1EZ5f9KvTVLfMKW3ViKhNjro0lYiO0yubXNsSCp5801MyXn94tYeEhDp7WogpM8iq-Ba7rH-awjPCXRHLugI3h9cZzxEnCcYbH76Gy9aFC0a_sTP21uK_Y6dDNa8QYKHnbz/s200/DSCN1967.JPG" border="0" /></a> Hot dog roast at the beach<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ7H0_rveNAvbFt5uzPNIN2dS5BAwdpfePEopHJLZqk6QV-isFgbjSey9fdLS6r_0GqCMlX0e-j1jnDQp6eQqQNX5A_VRq6IdeXbGj4DYpPcGNQrX2gxYp0ah4jpMcDzPx1SnChQBjBIm2/s1600-h/DSCN2013.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358874471178545314" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ7H0_rveNAvbFt5uzPNIN2dS5BAwdpfePEopHJLZqk6QV-isFgbjSey9fdLS6r_0GqCMlX0e-j1jnDQp6eQqQNX5A_VRq6IdeXbGj4DYpPcGNQrX2gxYp0ah4jpMcDzPx1SnChQBjBIm2/s200/DSCN2013.JPG" border="0" /></a>Four cute boys<br />Jacob, Ren, Kyle, Blake<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNcdGBOo-RHSnlxhxZPh1iLIWGK5tS6SxP184u03-O_l381DUBWVBC4UNGVUYQg4L6DvqAGfl1coHbWvSGrtfRVjDHTIeasbtpbOPtLgzub5G6bUff88Cw-e86eXQjEOExrNXonjAEOzQf/s1600-h/DSCN1957.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358874466835527586" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNcdGBOo-RHSnlxhxZPh1iLIWGK5tS6SxP184u03-O_l381DUBWVBC4UNGVUYQg4L6DvqAGfl1coHbWvSGrtfRVjDHTIeasbtpbOPtLgzub5G6bUff88Cw-e86eXQjEOExrNXonjAEOzQf/s200/DSCN1957.JPG" border="0" /></a> Emily, Jacob, Abby<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6-Lmbn5rk9DIuAOEUg8mSgLuWUcci2WNE8UzITNzsx4hOBZu0woD9HzaprNj3Qq9ajNY8AxNICpPcU7veicPl5D6VYlu-eK2eX4GqWvh3nvmyD0umFMJFkj_Y8ZYlTfTqMI0N0FrO2kY/s1600-h/DSCN1950.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358874458839917858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6-Lmbn5rk9DIuAOEUg8mSgLuWUcci2WNE8UzITNzsx4hOBZu0woD9HzaprNj3Qq9ajNY8AxNICpPcU7veicPl5D6VYlu-eK2eX4GqWvh3nvmyD0umFMJFkj_Y8ZYlTfTqMI0N0FrO2kY/s200/DSCN1950.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div>Cousins just sitting on the dock<br /><br /><div>I do love McCall. They arrived at about noon on Saturday and we plunked them right in a raft and we floated the river from Linder to Star. Erica and Joe, my parents, and Jordan made up the floatilla. We had 5 rafts, 2 canoes, and a pontoon boat. It takes about 3 hours and it is so beautiful. We saw herons and eagles and played with frogs and a tiny snake. I love that we can do this right out our back door. We came to our house to swim and then went to my parents house for the traditional BBQ. Michael and Kyle had a little nap and we lit off fireworks in the baseball field behind the church. We had a blast. </div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-36826048407803599492009-07-06T13:05:00.002-06:002009-07-06T13:14:42.121-06:00June Catch-up<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiduztlAb7_TwXjRZ_ZK5lsg_n_ejwmZC8HrZcKbD0l66U6hx59BiYjmzCJi4hpyBgwrqEM4rS0wEGS6YT0nsxOVGUgIz5mU4ciYoprymcBIVQYuV3nknikvCAPE5lAdKsTnmCDN3D7NL_4/s1600-h/DSCN1924.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355427090767766770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiduztlAb7_TwXjRZ_ZK5lsg_n_ejwmZC8HrZcKbD0l66U6hx59BiYjmzCJi4hpyBgwrqEM4rS0wEGS6YT0nsxOVGUgIz5mU4ciYoprymcBIVQYuV3nknikvCAPE5lAdKsTnmCDN3D7NL_4/s320/DSCN1924.JPG" border="0" /></a> Ross, Cassidy,(2nd Cousins) and Shelby<br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8dPyHalEJPTfbpdzLvw-w6yBvlt-88n4ZpXXaJ8pjtMTL4PXkSxqQ7Co2UsboiH5HFSRMCOfq5lKlf_fTcLTSKd7Yqff5QOSBlpLX0bE3jOEmJgFs7ffTGGD8FVDtUcX7yo2uz-70lOD6/s1600-h/DSCN1921.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355427083314259058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8dPyHalEJPTfbpdzLvw-w6yBvlt-88n4ZpXXaJ8pjtMTL4PXkSxqQ7Co2UsboiH5HFSRMCOfq5lKlf_fTcLTSKd7Yqff5QOSBlpLX0bE3jOEmJgFs7ffTGGD8FVDtUcX7yo2uz-70lOD6/s320/DSCN1921.JPG" border="0" /></a> Jon, Shelby and Miles crossing the river<br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOqnM_wk-QgPXgh7ynmOOrze9534TjN_cjX5luf_ArwEoCOVjWcML9iSNAtHRFFbJm2RqxZn5_LFaGRchCx1yNP-QnolVPs1DbPZE7bYmSZgrqlIP3pL6yRd00nonB_MGz_GnI2SJzbXXi/s1600-h/DSCN1920.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355427076132561218" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOqnM_wk-QgPXgh7ynmOOrze9534TjN_cjX5luf_ArwEoCOVjWcML9iSNAtHRFFbJm2RqxZn5_LFaGRchCx1yNP-QnolVPs1DbPZE7bYmSZgrqlIP3pL6yRd00nonB_MGz_GnI2SJzbXXi/s320/DSCN1920.JPG" border="0" /></a> Emily found this little snake<br /><br /><br />I am really trying to post at least 4 times a month so that at the end of the year, I can make a book. It is an overnight training camp for the 16 year girls. It was the first time I had been to Legacy. It was wonderful and the food was outstanding. They fed us every two hours. Why does food taste better if you don't have to make it or clean it up? It was great for me to get to know the girls better. </div><br /><br /><div>Also, I just got back from girls camp. It went very well, I think. I could have definitely done some things differently, but for the most part we had a great time. My girls are amazing. I have learned to love them so much. It was also fun to be there with Shelby. Poor girl, I didn't get to spend much time with her.</div><br /><br /><div>Now I need some suggestions for some great summer books. I am the worst at going to the library and picking a book. Somehow, I always get smut or murder books. I don't want those. I have given up picking books by myself and always have to have a suggestion from someone. I just got through reading the <em>Hunger Games</em> and really enjoyed it. If anyone out there has any great suggestions, I would appreciate it!!</div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-27031912225252156772009-06-07T19:57:00.003-06:002009-06-07T20:08:45.859-06:00Random pictures of My Saturday<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3TdP8KfeqA_G43PBYu7-PK3nNmMH98nBE3XMcitIGAcmyqULsEXzXkrwzYYxw8ApQNL593xVuMWeojgpAkLxpr_ftPY-7L4uasLZqjCNlb5eKg8xGAkveHvo2buOYOoNsysT__VmG3UY/s1600-h/DSCN1764.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5344770969460269698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3TdP8KfeqA_G43PBYu7-PK3nNmMH98nBE3XMcitIGAcmyqULsEXzXkrwzYYxw8ApQNL593xVuMWeojgpAkLxpr_ftPY-7L4uasLZqjCNlb5eKg8xGAkveHvo2buOYOoNsysT__VmG3UY/s320/DSCN1764.JPG" border="0" /></a> Our new pet Chinchilla, Very soft and sweet</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNluOPVQeJgLLWV-J1f0CfPqyaRkoCQOrHSF-PDMG7Zmz3lhoOM2cqollDQSr1ARnihh2Ku5vDhG0ORqNOgpSiRgAqxc_sEJdwCU1c3U35entev1BuBB-KZDCVJ6gC-qZ42cORw_3yloxe/s1600-h/DSCN1763.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5344770967608072642" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNluOPVQeJgLLWV-J1f0CfPqyaRkoCQOrHSF-PDMG7Zmz3lhoOM2cqollDQSr1ARnihh2Ku5vDhG0ORqNOgpSiRgAqxc_sEJdwCU1c3U35entev1BuBB-KZDCVJ6gC-qZ42cORw_3yloxe/s320/DSCN1763.JPG" border="0" /></a>Our poor lonely pool waiting patiently for visitors. Our family loves it there in May. No crowds, beautiful snow-covered Sawtooth mountains and great fishing. This year was no exception. We went with Brian and Lori, Jon and Rachel, Mom and Dad, and this year the Jensen's came with us. It was coldddd at night but we were prepared for cold. It rained some on Sunday but we were prepared for rain. We went fishing and found a most amazing fishing hole on the Yankee fork of the Salmon river. We shared fishing poles with all the kids and Christopher just used a stick with some line and a hook. We were catching fish by the dozens. We let most go if we could, but came home with a few who swallowed the hooks. Rachel is new to fishing and she caught fish after fish. I hope she doesn't think fishing is always like that! We rode bikes, canoed, ate great food, and played games. On Sunday, we had a testimony meeting. It is great to hear cousins, Aunts and Uncles, and Grandparents share their testimony. I love to be able to make these memories with my family and I love living in such a beautiful place.</div></div></div></div><br /></div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-49753005008756405912009-05-15T16:40:00.002-06:002009-05-15T16:57:29.629-06:00Ummmm......How did this happen?<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoLWLiFeruYWIj393C4VJooiyoUENAkBZXgM61MYzFtbpCdg7hT2kxayiexzsxl3hl6_LfhgpLW5FI5I4s_uw1KXf9xQWwPebdzKPK100V9Qp9FDo3c1Vvfc64FyFqqcv_6IIrlTNFmkjM/s1600-h/DSCN1818.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336185194817508290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoLWLiFeruYWIj393C4VJooiyoUENAkBZXgM61MYzFtbpCdg7hT2kxayiexzsxl3hl6_LfhgpLW5FI5I4s_uw1KXf9xQWwPebdzKPK100V9Qp9FDo3c1Vvfc64FyFqqcv_6IIrlTNFmkjM/s320/DSCN1818.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBAbTXsMF2qNU40_CbMo1T22E57K0Dcf9BFOvz3hyyubmXUaWlznKfF3fNQkQ2R1pYMOKMQ2q1-5x-HPxVARl9LrTR2Fyk7l9DxqpbVbqrDlmB5XzHQZoGTnoOohanyJ20rs9BiODN3mlA/s1600-h/DSCN1819.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336185191876456786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBAbTXsMF2qNU40_CbMo1T22E57K0Dcf9BFOvz3hyyubmXUaWlznKfF3fNQkQ2R1pYMOKMQ2q1-5x-HPxVARl9LrTR2Fyk7l9DxqpbVbqrDlmB5XzHQZoGTnoOohanyJ20rs9BiODN3mlA/s320/DSCN1819.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMKN_z4kH1hY5n43lLW0Lbckkb4XV3ouk1rU6MLkWYFx4vFcf7a6fYCpZwCw1ou-yskacUTTCMHqcoJSjSD5Bh4xb71vXc_y5xSOR5jwBrVeM_aQtNY4jzzpsSv1O8WG3nL6icHZmfDGqy/s1600-h/DSCN1822.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336185185524476626" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMKN_z4kH1hY5n43lLW0Lbckkb4XV3ouk1rU6MLkWYFx4vFcf7a6fYCpZwCw1ou-yskacUTTCMHqcoJSjSD5Bh4xb71vXc_y5xSOR5jwBrVeM_aQtNY4jzzpsSv1O8WG3nL6icHZmfDGqy/s320/DSCN1822.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>So, I guess we are chicken farmers. Michael and I were talking about food storage and I was complaining about powdered eggs. He said the way to solve the problem was by getting a few laying hens. I went to D&B and after waiting for two hours, (chickens are very popular right now), I told Michael to just stop by the Nampa store. He said why not just go to the hatchery. Why didn't I think of that? Ten minutes later he walked out with some chickens. I just wanted a couple.I had Michael get some extra to cover any tragic deaths. However, standing with 50 people waiting for chickens for two hours, you learn some things. I learned what a pullet was. I learned how to feed and take care of your chickens. Some guy also told me that chickens have a high mortality rate. Not so. Or maybe it's just that we take such good care of them, they wouldn't dare die. Needless to say, we have more than I want. I wanted to send some to Parma to live on a little farm. However, now the sweet things are named and loved by a certain cute 10 year old. Emily takes very good care of them. Michael built a great chicken coop complete with a sliding door and functioning widows. I'm sure in about 2 months I will be grateful for the eggs, but there is no way we are going to be able to use all of them. Anyone want some nice fresh brown eggs??!!</div></div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-82589333431508017592009-05-11T22:13:00.006-06:002009-05-11T22:36:02.182-06:00Mothers Day<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioIA8UGrqz5RCv5SCDGIL-D-rpVU03iFzq2FXCGAqUcCbhCb1uCPIwWplaxDfCZm6OKOwxo9s0KVKF634edMV4qvbwlHfyQExv3p0Tewf-FUK-wBB-lJdjiBZjFw6O3Hr02YL-S1rBPDbs/s1600-h/DSCN1800.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334790696532731282" style="DISPLAY: block; It is a tradition. This year my mom decided it was time for a change and we went to Three Island Crossing. When I told my kids, it was non stop complaining. They are into traditions. They did not like the idea of messing with a great one. But after all was said and done,</div></div></div></div></div></div>they agreed that Three Island Crossing is not so bad of a place. I liked it because it is so much closer, we could get reservations, and it is fairly close to a store. The campground is nice and there is lots of grass and nice showers. It is a family affair with lots of cousins and ultimate frisbee, great food, and good times had by all. I missed Hells Canyon but we will go in the fall. I had a very nice Mothers Day. My kids and husband spoiled me. I love being a mom and I love my mom so much. I come from a long line of great moms. Lucky me!</div></div><br /></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-51512959210507343212009-05-06T06:40:00.006-06:002009-05-06T07:08:33.529-06:00Lightning<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoYZuEIO9XbtSnWmkQGWtQhoiMYzyCkDO8ubiWj0oOYUx4xbuYO-RYm2T6Oct2HeodSd44Q8OfjmrNTg43rE_y3N1ZEKRhef9xrnLFCnPZV1Ajy_eBgMCE9j-n6x_XKBqZJFdGrsQhr6GF/s1600-h/images.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332695472622805634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 91px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 129px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoYZuEIO9XbtSnWmkQGWtQhoiMYzyCkDO8ubiWj0oOYUx4xbuYO-RYm2T6Oct2HeodSd44Q8OfjmrNTg43rE_y3N1ZEKRhef9xrnLFCnPZV1Ajy_eBgMCE9j-n6x_XKBqZJFdGrsQhr6GF/s320/images.jpg" border="0" /></a> <div><div><div><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Ok</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Ok</span>. Somehow, I wasn't paying attention and I was just talking away and playing with the power cord. Well, I stuck the cord in my mouth and gave myself a very wonderful shock. My family enjoyed a big laugh. Fast forward to last night. We have been doing some remodeling around our house. Emily wanted help by putting outlet covers on some of the outlets. I gave her a screwdriver and told her to please be careful and not to stick the screwdriver in the outlet. We had Stake Conference so church was out at noon. It seemed like the perfect day to drive to Shoshone Falls. Right now the falls are at peak water flow. It seemed everyone else thought it would be a great time to see the falls also. It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to travel the last 2 miles. It was crazy! When we finally got to the ticket taker, she told us that the car count so far was 13,000! I have never seen such a zoo. We couldn't find a parking spot. People were everywhere. There were even buses. We walked to the lookout and took a picture or two. We then found a scrap of grass to have a picnic and then we were out of there. I'm glad I saw the falls so full but I won't do that again.</div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-31569830158599371452009-04-22T08:27:00.004-06:002009-04-22T09:34:51.943-06:00Shelby's Toe Shoes<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimHF6zjSh8x07m7ho2DxPAQuMV8APbzLcJ2oTDYIkY_VLWpW1IFcOB9-14C4JC8-X0IQkO1Lgt5JtRk9J6Wo8P_RihBqj4pWCEfOd4TNiiqHuDJOl7zRldpt0wz0fFcVYFL5pbMGaranu9/s1600-h/IMG_1146.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327526477410138802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 214px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimHF6zjSh8x07m7ho2DxPAQuMV8APbzLcJ2oTDYIkY_VLWpW1IFcOB9-14C4JC8-X0IQkO1Lgt5JtRk9J6Wo8P_RihBqj4pWCEfOd4TNiiqHuDJOl7zRldpt0wz0fFcVYFL5pbMGaranu9/s320/IMG_1146.JPG" border="0" /></a> <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWz_zte_t28wk812f1kRv8HIUtvhXWK3PGU6uqyxd8atnTerDtMRFqHkH_psg-JT-KbD6vvm5z3k8Po2gmB8MAXmWMZyClY2BtCThDlvUMVefts7bzGP5OTeOi8KfF5H_mAtQPjafz2tr9/s1600-h/IMG_1137.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327526473616929074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWz_zte_t28wk812f1kRv8HIUtvhXWK3PGU6uqyxd8atnTerDtMRFqHkH_psg-JT-KbD6vvm5z3k8Po2gmB8MAXmWMZyClY2BtCThDlvUMVefts7bzGP5OTeOi8KfF5H_mAtQPjafz2tr9/s320/IMG_1137.JPG" border="0" /></a> <div><div>The only thing that Shelby has wanted for a long time is toe shoes. She wants to dance like a real ballerina. Her amazing dance teacher, Amber, has been working with her for 8 months to become strong enough to dance on her toes. Amber finally decided that she was ready. So we made an appointment to get fitted at a dance store. Each girl needs to be specifically fitted because there are many different types of toe shoes. Who knew? On the appointed day, I was very sick. Sweet Aunt Rachel took her and was the photographer for this big event. She ended up having to order her shoes online because they didn't have her size in stock. She is very excited to be dancing with toe shoes. She was at the top of her game skill wise and now she is having to start all over again. She has to learn new skills and use new muscles. It has not been as easy as she expected it to be. She tends to be a perfectionist and gets very frustrated when she is not perfect. Amazing Amber calls her each evening after class and reminds her not get frustrated but just keep practicing. Shelby impresses me with her great determination. She won't give up, she just tries harder. </div></div></div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-18783204170592385742009-04-13T22:32:00.005-06:002009-04-13T23:16:55.391-06:00Ed is BACK<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiw0wrIi7cTnve1lt3BjZk-8GRRoAUd2FVpn8wrfYeghifqPE67WTpOvMD_DXe6OKUDV86ABBFckefYUyM58HwQUemYxJ83gZpelPB_autVO6KRDHN2djXsHlv0KouNbO48MAQio3bZCzI/s1600-h/RSCN1764.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324404491534375570" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiw0wrIi7cTnve1lt3BjZk-8GRRoAUd2FVpn8wrfYeghifqPE67WTpOvMD_DXe6OKUDV86ABBFckefYUyM58HwQUemYxJ83gZpelPB_autVO6KRDHN2djXsHlv0KouNbO48MAQio3bZCzI/s320/RSCN1764.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>Three years ago, Kyle wanted a red-ear slider. A slider is a turtle. I did not want a turtle, so I told Kyle that if he did some research, we would talk again. So for three months he studied and researched and learned all there was to learn about red-ear sliders. Finally, I gave in and we went to the pet store to buy all the equipment and get the little turtle. Kyle named him Ed. On the way home with the turtle safely in his hands, Kyle mentions that turtles live for <strong><em>40 years</em></strong> in captivity. I assured him that when he got home from his mission the turtle would be going to college with him and he better find a wife that loves turtles.</div><div>Over the next two years, Ed just got bigger and bigger. He ate everthing, including all his tank mates. He was very aggressive and would happily eat your finger. I really didn't love him. Turtles are really just pond pigs. They are messy and not cuddley. Why anyone would want a turtle for a pet, I don't know. Anyway, last August, Kyle got the great idea to put Ed in our little pond in the front yard. He stayed there for four days with no problems. Then, on the fifth day, I saw him in the morning but we never saw him again. Oh too bad, Ed ran away from home. I never wanted anything bad to happen to Ed because he was very entertaining, devouring fish and grasshoppers and slurping up worms. Kyle was just trying to give him a change of scenery.</div><div>Yesterday, Emily was watching the pond and she said she saw a big frog. We put tadpoles in there last summer so that didn't surprise me. Then she started screaming that she saw ED!! I didn't believe her. Then Christopher went outside with her and said he saw that darn turtle too. </div><div>I watched today and guess what??? Ed is BACK. Actually, he never left. He just lived in the pond and hid in the rose bushes and hibernated nicely over the winter. They wake up mid March to mid April. We will just leave him in the pond and see what happens. I am glad to know that he is still alive and well!!</div>Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069407325090811961.post-48017175812369793302009-04-06T17:07:00.005-06:002009-04-06T21:06:01.132-06:00Car Shopping<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgciyB2ej_Inh096d2gxgniFtNajrLtIiYU0dMcxYqw-lUVZ3tESyvvIz727o08AkRHtM5xOOQZqeGpSfc711GqWkBe5aOEHdyvxGr7DD0FusCKbdwldXiGujqSkv6gcb2lENfFeyRyVUCI/s1600-h/travelall.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321774994145306850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 176px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgciyB2ej_Inh096d2gxgniFtNajrLtIiYU0dMcxYqw-lUVZ3tESyvvIz727o08AkRHtM5xOOQZqeGpSfc711GqWkBe5aOEHdyvxGr7DD0FusCKbdwldXiGujqSkv6gcb2lENfFeyRyVUCI/s320/travelall.jpg" border="0" /></a> When I was a teenage driver, my dad gave me the "<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">privilege</span>" of driving a '72 International Travellall. It was the biggest vehicle on the road besides a semi-truck. Ours was a faded green color. It scared me to drive it because I always felt like there could be people living in the far back. It was also unpredictable. If my dad was around, it ran flawlessly. If my sister or I were driving it, we were likely to be stranded somewhere. In fact, my 16 year old sister was on her way home from a volleyball game and the car died outside a bar one night. The car was way too heavy for her to move. It was also the in the days before cell phones. She had to go into the bar and ask someone to help her get the car out of the road. The men were very nice, but talk about unsafe!!! Then she went back in the bar to call my dad to come and get her.<br />So Christopher needed a car. We wanted him to have some say in what he drove. At first, he said anything was fine because that is the kind of kid he is. Then when we pushed him a bit, he did have some definite ideas. He wanted white. All of our cars are white. There is something about cleanliness and heat absorbsion. He wanted four doors. I thought that was kind of funny. But he wants Zach and his date to be comfortable in the back seat. I told him as long as HE was comfortable who cares about the back seat people. Christopher does, because that is just the kind of kid he is. He wanted an automatic, with a/c, and cruise control. We gave him a budget. And we looked and we looked. We looked at 10 cars. He kept saying he wasn't "feeling it". Finally, we went up to look at a car on Bogus Basin road. These nice people live on the hill right behind Simplot's hill. Mr. and Mrs G. were in their 60's and had had the car for 10 years. He gave us a printout of everything he had purchased for the car, from every gallon of gas with gas mileage to the $1.59 he spent on new fuses in 1999. The car was perfect. Every latch works, every button and lever works. Christopher got a huge smile on his face and declared that he was "feeling it". I even teased him that it was a bit grannyish. Mrs. G drove the car around the block one last time and came back with tears in her eyes. As we were leaving, Mr. G brought out 4 new snow tires in the original bags from Les Schwab. So this is it. A '95 well loved, well cared for Ford Taurus LX. It was even well below budget. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321774991447495602" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiacMTZfsUYo8QIrsjLOmWzs-7hS8hfVl6ecluHgxGkU7WaxqjZxucetsqmVWuAbtBsLDyzJ4GENjpPAJm2ouzLWKLAt1Qbl5HKfBgANz3O7uGeD5VET4c2pXWqe-JZ8xsWRQ5_Be2NjNUk/s320/DSCN1760.JPG" border="0" />Meredith(The Mom)http://www.blogger.com/profile/06195020672244211951noreply@blogger.com3
